What people want to know and ask most about Gurus.
Who is your favorite character?
That’s tough, for myself (Marc Marcel), it changes. Right now, it’s between Buddha, Alan Watts and Harriet Tubman.
How long does it take to animate an episode?
It depends on what is involved in the episode, how epic or calm the skit is. On average, it takes a few days to complete a ‘Gurus Short,’ and about week to complete a 10 minute episode. The animation has been a 1-man operation thus far.
How often do you make videos?
We usually make videos in bulk, so that we have some on deck. But we can also make a video fairly quickly, addressing a trending topic.
What’s your favorite part of the animation process?
The very last movement.
How did you come up with idea for Gurus?
I wanted to make fun of my own philosophies, so I created an alter ego (Eisen Godfrey) where I would spill my philosophies out into. Then, I thought, why not only make fun of myself, but all the people I have admired and learned from.
Why is it important for you to make it?
At the end of the day, my goal is to get people to think. Sometimes being so direct isn’t the best approach. Sometimes its best to throw in a joke or laugh while doing it, it tends to go down better.
What is your vision for it?
My vision for it is for people to fall back in love with the real life version of the characters that I use in the show. I want to bring awareness to their teaching, by using them in comedic efforts, so that it inspires people to learn more about them.
What is Carlston?
Carlston is a conscious living Toupee that lives on top of Donald Trump's head. It is an alien species from another planet. Think of Carlston like 'Venom,' except instead of turning you into a Superhero, it turns you into Jabba the Hut.
Why is Buddha so angry?
He went through a bad break up, which causes him to lose his hair and get fat. We parodied it in the episode 'Jesus Lost Years: What the Dead Sea Scrolls Didn't Reveal.'
Where do the Gurus live?
In a fictional part of Los Angeles.
How old are the Gurus?
The Gurus are thought to be in their prime years of notoriety.
What are your favorite episodes or shorts?
This is tough. It varies, mostly the newest video is usually my favorite. But my all time list includes 'Stone Ape Theory,' and Gurus Series Episode 1 (One Hell of a Day) and Gurus Series Episode 7 (Terence Spikes the Coffee with Ayahuasca)
